Worldmapper - Patents 2002

Worldmapper.org nicely visualizes the intellectual property generation across countries. According to their website: “In 2002, 312 thousand patents were granted around the world. More than a third of these were granted in Japan. Just under a third were granted in the United States.
A patent is supposed to protect the ideas and inventions that people have. Patenting something will then allow the owner of the patent to charge others for the usage of an idea or invention. The aim is to reward the creator for their hard work or intelligence. But patents can prevent people from using good ideas because they cannot afford to do so.”

They also offer a nice PDF to print.

A quarter of all territories had no new patents in 2002, so will not profit from these in future years as others will.

We will take part in the Europe’s biggest research event for information and communication technologies in November in Lyon.
The ICT conferences set the European research agenda for the next decade. First incubated product launches!

INNORAISE, the first product incubated at Raphael Volz Innovation Consulting, will launch tomorrow at ESTC 2008 in Vienna.
INNORAISE provides a social enterprise search application that combines social networking with focused search to find people by competence. Users can get to know who knows and thereby work more efficiently within their organization.

An international professional association for researchers in an IT domain has contracted a research study that outlines the developments of Internet technologies for the next twenty years. We conduct a series of workshops with world-leading experts in Internet technologies to get an outlook to our future.

Technical coordination contracted

A well-known SME in the IT industry has contracted our technical coordination of design activities for a large leading-edge industrial research project for the course of the next four months.
